My grandmother was born in Mart in 1900. I note that the McLennan County Clerk states that they have birth records beginning in 1903. Where should I look for records prior to 1903,
Thanks,

Family Search has a collection of Texas births, 1840 to 1981. I’ve read that some Texas counties issued birth certificates before the law required them. I checked on a couple named Crook and did not find a certificate issued by a county. I saw census. In Catholic records, there are notations that sworn statements from baptismal records were issued, to be used as proof of age in applying for Social Security benefits.-- (from CTGS member Betty Crook)
