Pomp, Parade, and Patriotism: The Story of Independence Day, a CTGS Event

As part of the America250 celebration of America's 250th anniversary, CTGS member Gina Andrie looks back at the origins of Independence Day celebrations and how America has celebrated the Fourth of July through the centuries. ZOOM link will be available.

Join CTGS as Gina Andrie looks back at the origins of Independence Day and how Americans have celebrated the Fourth of July through the centuries. From early patriotic observances to the traditions we recognize today, this presentation explores the history behind the holiday including John Adams’s famous prediction of celebrations filled with “pomp and parade.” We will also discuss meaningful ways families can preserve their own Fourth of July memories and traditions for future generations, connecting personal stories to our shared national history.
